National Nurses Appreciation Week Spotlight Day 1

Tara Hampton, RN- MDS Director

I was inspired to become a nurse after my dad was terminally diagnosed with cancer at the age of 46. I was his primary caregiver until he died at the age of 50. I was so impressed with my dad’s hospice nurse and the huge impact she made in all of our lives during such a difficult time.  I was majoring in business and had my real estate license at that time, and decided to make a change to nursing. I’ve been an RN for 10 years now, and have been in the nursing field for 12 years. I’ve done a little bit of everything: Oncology, Surgical, Trauma, Orthopedics, Medical, Head and Neck, Reconstructive Plastic Surgery, Clinical Education, Infection Control and I was a travel nurse for 3 years. I now work as an MDS Director for Dulles Health and Rehab. I’m extremely glad I chose this career and can’t imagine doing anything else!
