National Nurses Week 2020

Posted on:

Dulles Health & Rehab Center is excited to participate in the upcoming observance of National Nurses Week, which begins each year on May 6th and ends on May 12th, Florence Nightingale’s birthday.

Supported by the American Nurses Association, National Nurses Week celebrates nurses and their role in society. The purpose of this week-long celebration is to raise awareness of the value of nursing and help educate the public about the role nurses play in meeting the healthcare needs of Americans.

The week celebrates the legacy of Florence Nightingale, a nurse who became famous for treating wounded soldiers during the Crimean war, and for her work in establishing nursing as a profession in its own right.  Florence Nightingale founded a nursing school in 1860, providing the first type of professional nursing establishment in the world.
